Verdant Iceland
We might not think of Iceland as being a desert because it's relatively cold. Nevertheless the ground in the interior is on the whole rocky and lacking in vegetation. Occasionally, where water flows regularly, there are patches of this incredible luminous green moss which contrasts strongly with the black lava below.
