Mesquite lakebed 1
Whilst exploring the extensive dunes before dawn I came upon these remnants of a dried lake bed. The shifting sands in the lee of a dune had left shards of dried mud protruding into the air. I made this image when I first arrived and as the sun first crested the surrounding dunes. Whilst the light was wonderful I felt certain that better images could be made but of course hesitate to trample across the sand until I had made at least one image.
